subject: The Difference Between Cable and Dish Providers [print this page]

Everybody needs a real entertainment in their home. Your computer, sound system and gaming console are the top candidates for your entertainment needs. But there's one common thing that would be the most entertaining of all. We're talking about an appliance called television. Instead of reading books, watching television is one of the best entertainment sources that a person can get. They watched real people on how they find act themselves in the camera. It all starts with a regular antenna-type television, which transmits the signal between the antennas of your TV to a nearby local station. It will only give you limited channels to watch, and most of them are variety shows. In the Philippines, the local channels you can get are very few. Few local TV channels like ABS-CBN, GMA, TV5, RPN and Studio 23 are mostly watched by Filipinos, even abroad. But if we ask them if those channels are good enough for entertainment purposes, it expects that they are not yet contented to it. Some of them can't guarantee you a good reception, because it really depends on the area of connectivity. There are some areas that cannot give you signals on a nearby local TV station, because the antenna has a limited range of transmitting it to the main provider.

What they need is a provider that can give them the entertainment on their television. However, there are two types of providers that you can count on. We're talking about cable TV and dish providers, and we find out how they are differentiated. First of all, let's talk about a common provider called cable TV. It allows us to watch as many channels as we want through plugging it with a cable cord connecting directly to the service provider. This type of provider gives us good quality reception, and it satisfies millions of users worldwide. On the other hand, the dish allows us to watch many channels through transmitting the signal from the satellite dish to the main satellite. After it connects to the main satellite, it will spread directly to other local and international TV stations worldwide. Both of them are having the same purpose, which is to entertain us. Without cable TV or dish, we will experience less entertainment for sticking with a regular antenna-type television.

Both cable television and dish has some channels that are very popular. Some of the popular channels like HBO, CNN, Fox, ESPN and others are catching the viewer's attention. These channels make money through the number of viewers daily, and they also earn from any cable or dish provider through their packages. It does not matter for the subscribers on what cable or dish providers are they using, because they only care about quality entertainment. Cable and dish also provides high-definition viewing, which is the next level of watching television. If you can differentiate between HD and non-HD, you will see their big difference. Overall, both cable TV and dish are worth for our entertainment needs. This is how cable and dish providers are having differences with each other, even with the same purpose for customers.
