subject: Customer Retention Tips - Or - How to Generate Passive Residual Income [print this page]

I was enticed into the world of network marketing, probably like many of you, by the promise of residual income. I ADORED the idea of generating residual income so I did not have to scrabble for new jobs all the time. At the time, I owned my own consulting agency so I was forever looking for the next job. Often it was feast or famine.

The residual income definition, for those who don't know, is that your business will put money in your pocket even while you are on the beach in Bora Bora - even if you stay there for a year!

However, earning passive residual income is not done by magic. The key to generating significant residual income is to build your customer base. And then, this the crucial biscuit, keeping those customers. If you get them and then they leave that is not going to earn you residual income.

Follow these customer retention tips to make sure that you do earn residual income.

Tip #1 Like so much of network marketing, building relationships is critical to your success. Call your customers within a few days of them ordering your product and service. Ask them if they have any questions. Make sure they know you are available to them if they ever have any questions and concerns. People are much less likely to cancel a service or product if they develop a relationship with you. As I am sure you have heard, people are loyal to people, not products.

Tip #2 Make sure that your customers are using the product or service. People have a hard time trying something for the first time. It can be daunting to start something new in the midst of their already taxing schedule. So if they need to make a call to activate their service - Help them. Three-way them into customer support. Give them ideas on how they could fit using the product into their daily schedule. If they never start using a product or service, you can bet the next time they get the bill they are going to cancel it.

Tip #3 Check in with your customers on a consistent and regular basis. Build that relationship. This has an added bonus: Once they like and trust you, they easily convert to someone who joins your opportunity - earning you and them even more money.

So remember, whatever your product or service, you need to build a relationship on a regular consistent basis so that at the end of the day you do have that passive residual income that you want.

This relationship building is especially important if you are building your business online. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND building your business online. However, if you want strong long-term growth in your business, and with it, residual income you need to make sure you pick up the phone and connect with the people who joined you online. They need to know you are a person. And not only that, but a person who cares about them and their goals.

Of course there are many ways other than your customer base to generate residual income, but that is for another article. In the meantime, I HIGHLY recommend that you participate in effective and proven training so you can grow your residual income and grow it with multiple income streams. One of the best resources for further education is a FREE 4 video training series with a bonus of a FREE 8 day boot camp.
