subject: The Hong Kong Permanent Planning & Infrastructure Gallery Exhibition [print this page] The Hong Kong Government has awarded the Hong Kong Permanent Planning and Infrastructure Gallery Exhibition to Hypsos in Hong Kong. The impressive new project is for the supply, fabrication and installation of new exhibits in the City Hall Annex, currently undergoing a major renovation to house the exhibition.
The Hong Kong Government intends to display and share the history of development in Hong Kong and future major planning proposals and infrastructure projects with the public. The exhibition will show new developments and create understanding of how Hong Kong grew into one of the world's most vibrant cities. The exhibition, designed by MET Studio and their jv partners The Oval Partnership, is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2011 and will cover four floors of the City Hall Annex building.
The City Hall complex has a long history as one of Hong Kong's prominent centres of culture and the arts. From its vantage point overlooking Hong Kong Island's spectacular Victoria Harbour, it embodies a history of important cultural events synonymous with the development of local culture. As a venue for important ceremonies and celebrations, it once housed the first public library and art museum in Hong Kong and is an ideal location to house an exhibition of this high caliber.
Important topics of the exhibition include Historical Development, The Strategic Picture, Transportation and Communications, Sustainable Development, Living Environment, and Hong Kong Next Century.
Through creative use of multimedia and a vivid mix of iconic imagery and materials, the exhibition will provide a valuable venue for ongoing consideration of local development issues and an explanatory platform for understanding how Hong Kong grew from a small fishing community into one of the world's great cities. Vincent Boender, general manager of Hypsos in Hong Kong states "Hypsos looks forward to the challenge of presenting topical subject matter in engaging ways, delivered with professionalism and showcased in high quality construction that will serve as a proud symbol of Hong Kong."
