Sorry kids but as much as we love to stay under the sun and enjoy the beaches, summer is ending soon. A new school year is approaching.

Although most kids hate the idea of going back to school again, we bet they can't resist shopping for brand new school items. Boys and girls would want to the latest fashion and trends in their back to school clothing. If you're worried about how you will spend, here are some tips to help you save.

Make a checklist. Don't underestimate the power of a checklist. Plan ahead of time by talking to your kids what clothing they need most such as underwear, shoes, gloves, socks, pants and sweatshirts. Write it down from the most important to the least. This will give you an estimate on how much is it all going to cost and you'll have enough time to make some preparations. The list will also remind you to buy only the clothes that your children need.

Try to look into your children's closet first before you hit the stores. There might be items that are still in good shape. If your child doesn't want them anymore, you can trade them. There are stores that take slightly worn clothes in exchange for cash or store credits.

Shop around first. Give yourself plenty of time before you plan to buy your children's back-to-school clothing. It will give you enough time to do some window shopping and compare prices from local stores. This will ensure that you are getting that best bargain.

Sales! Most of the back-to-school clothing is at its lowest price during this time. They are pretty inexpensive that it's shame to pass on it. Discounts can reach up to 50%. You can also find other sales like buy one get one on shorts, shoes and much more.

Make use of coupons. Take advantage of any coupons that the stores offer on top of already reduced prices. Look for printable coupons, coupon codes and promo codes online, magazine or newspapers. You can get yourself the most savings when you combine coupons with the store's sale offer.

For items they don't need yet, wait to buy them until after the school year starts. Back-to-school sales are great, but you might see that prices are even lower a month or two after school starts. This is when there are overstock items left that must go and retailers get rid of it through clearance sale.

Keep in mind that clothes are not the only things you'll spend on once your children start going to school again. Know how to budget and follow this guides to save more.
