subject: Professional Office Cleaners Are An Important Part Of The Team [print this page]

Everyday throughout Australia there are thousands of office cleaners going to work. Usually they work unsociable hours either late at night or early morning. When the office workers are out with friends, or sleeping in their beds there is a team of highly skilled personnel taking care of their work space.

Yet the office cleaner is seldom thought of as a professional. If they are thought of at all it's more likely to be in the context of having had opportunity if something has gone missing, or to be left a note about a specific task needing to be done. But professionals many of Australia's cleaners are.

Cleaning is not just about straightening a few magazines and vacuuming the floor. It's about assessing what needs to be done, how often, what with and creating a schedule so that the office environment is always sparkling and fresh. A good quality cleaner will understand the workings of the office, they know where the trouble spots are, and they can apply their skills efficiently to whatever task needs to be done. They may even water dying plants when it is not part of their job simply because they want to fix something that is stopping the office looking its best.

This silent cleaning army isn't often given the respect it deserves. Although it has a specialized skill set, and takes pride in ensuring the end product, the bright clean office space, it rarely gets acknowledged never mind respected. Many times a cleaner can work for years in the same office and yet never receive a personal thanks. They may get a traditional impersonal token at Christmas, but what would mean more is someone taking the time to say thank you.

Office cleaners are people who have often chosen to work as cleaning professionals because they love the sense of achievement they get each day when they transform a stale and messy office space into a fresh working environment. It is true that there are some cleaners who do the bare minimum, but these are not professional cleaners. These are people who clean. If you hire a professional cleaner you have someone who has integrity, works hard, and has a sense of pride in the part they play in ensuring the success of the offices they take care of. A good professional cleaner can make an office a joy to walk into each morning, and they should be a valued part of any office team.

If your cleaner is doing a great job, make the time to occasionally say hello, or thank you. Show your cleaner how much you appreciate their services and you'll probably find that even the highest of standards will improve!
