subject: The Difference Between Hard Wood Flooring And Marble Flooring [print this page]

"In building a house, whether luxury or low-cost, there many aspects are to be considered. The type of flooring material to be used is one of the aspects to be considered. There are many types of flooring such as linoleum flooring, vinyl sheets, carpets or rugs, rubber and cork but the more popular ones are hardwood and marble or cement flooring.

The benefit of using hardwood flooring is that these types can easily fit into any type of structural design and there are many colors to choose from including the textures and the grains. This means that the entire structure becomes distinctive. Hardwood flooring is also very durable as it can last for a very long time. The historical buildings that are visible these days are proof of this durability.

Hardwood flooring has a lot of varieties giving us a lot of different options that are inexpensive. You can probably have a more economical type of hardwood in your living room area and use a different type that is more durable in your kitchen area. Irrespective of how cheap you got your hardwood flooring, if you know how to take good care of them, these can last for a very long time.

You can also go for marble or cement flooring but be ready to pay for a premium. This kind of flooring tends to be very cold during the winter and at night that's why many people prefer hardwood than marble or cement flooring.

Repairing damaged marble or cement flooring wouldn't be as easy as repairing hardwood. It would surely cost more too, compared to hardwood for which only a hammer, saw and some nails are needed. With marble or cement flooring, you would need a mason unless you know how to do masonry yourself.

Hardwood is good for constructing buildings with multiple floors because compared to other types, hardwood is much lighter. On the other hand, marble or cement flooring is heavy so the structures should have a very sturdy beam so that it won't collapse. You also need to reinforce these beams which means that you need to spend more. Hardwood is only built upon wooden beams which, of course, are more affordable.

Overall, more people prefer hardwood on their floors because it grows more beautiful with time, it is cheap and it is easy to replace or fix.
