Zocor (simvastatin) belongs to a group of drugs known as HMG CoA reductase inhibitors. Zocor decreases the level of Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and naturally occurring ester (of fatty acids and glycerol that is the chief constituent of fats and oils) in the blood. This medicine also can be used for other disorder such as coronary heart disorder, heart attack and other related disorder caused by the diabetes. Zocor drug should be given to the patient whose age is 10 years and above. Simavastatin 10mg can also be applied for treating other diseases.
How should I take this medication?
This medication should be taken once daily and it can be taken regardless of meals. Take Zocor medication dosage as prescribed by the doctor as this medication is also used for treating different diseases. This medicine may cause uneven muscles contraction, pain, inflammation, softness, paleness, feebleness, pyrexia (fever), uneven tired feeling. This medicine may cause chest pain, urge the patients to vomit due to discomfort in the stomach, mild fever, change of appetite, the color of the urine and stool may become black, change of color of skin (jaundice), uneven erection of men sexual organ. Zocor 20mg drug also cause minor side effects such as mild dizzy, pain of head, tiredness felling, sneezing, infection at the throat, nose blockade and cold. Beside this, the medicine also causes sleeping disorder (insomnia) formation of rashes at the skin digestion problem and stomach cramp.
What precautions do I need to follow while using Zocor ?
Do not fail to take the missed dose. Even if you have forgotten the dosage take it as soon as you remember. Do not take two doses at a regular interval of time in-order to fill the missed dose as over dosage of medication may cause severe adverse effects. The patient has to be tested on regular basis so as to confirm the action of the medication. Do not take food that contain high calories and follow proper regulation prescribed by the doctor such as diet and exercise.
