subject: Why Obesity Stands Between You And Your Dream Muscular Figure? [print this page]

In modern times, lack of muscularity unlike pre-historic times or even the medieval times and occurrence of obesity has mainly been the outcome of our drastically changed lifestyles. During the evolution of human beings, for a large part of human history, we indulged in hunting, protecting ourselves against wild animals, migrating, fighting in wars, running away from natural calamities, farming, manual constructions, staying prepared for defense etc. These activities kept our bodies strong, large and muscular to face any adversity that tested our physical capabilities to face any physically challenging situation.Humans didn't need to work out to be bulky and muscular. The ancient sculptures of Greek gods, were not inspired my muses who did weight training, but the lifestyle then, requiring to move heavy objects manually etc, was so laborious that men then were naturally well-developed from a muscularity point of view.It was survival for the fittest, and most people were naturally strong, due to the hard physical labor that made their bodies capable of handling tough and laborious jobs, and there was no question of obesity, as there wasn't much rest. It was a hand-to-mouth existence. You could afford a meal, if you had worked for the same, in the day.But consider the modern day humans, with their sedentary lifestyles and long, time-consuming desk jobs. Humans being social animals support younger family members, until they finish their education, till the age of 20 to 25, even if they can't earn for themselves, etc. These and other such conveniences have resulted in the widespread onslaught of obesity within the human race, with young children not going out and playing tough outdoor games that test every fiber of their body, and instead munching on junk and playing computer games, which add to the tiers of flab around their waist. In the olden days children grew up wrestling with each other, chasing snakes and mongooses or big rodents or dogs, thereby building muscle endurance and testing their stamina. They climbed trees and stole fruits, thereby consuming fresh, zero food-mile, zero carbon print, nutrient rich, and high calorie foods. Today the population indulges in fat-dense, trans-fat dense, and saturated fat-dense junk foods that is responsible for lethargy. Other factors that cause obesity include environmental, psychological, cultural as well as hereditary factors.Heredity could be one of the major reasons that influence the storage of fat patterns, metabolic rate and digestive capability in some families. An overweight newborn baby is more likely to progress into an overweight adult, if one or both of the parents are overweight adults. Various hereditary hormonal and neural patterns could also be genetically inherited, thereby causing weight gain among certain families, across generations.Working out diligently and weight-training instead will help to reverse the trend of obesity. The factors mentioned above, in addition to several psychological and physical disorders or disabilities are responsible for obesity in the world today. We need to tackle the problem at the root, through extensive diagnosis and corrective as well as preventive actions, to eradicate the problem of obesity, before beginning the progression towards muscle building.
