subject: Cleaning Your Car Windows [print this page]

How often do you clean your car and how often should you clean your car? Most people probably only clean their car about once a month while other people who are little more obsessed with it might clean it every week.

There is no right or wrong answer to how often you should clean it but there is no doubt that it should be done every once in a while so that you do not live in filth for too long. You need to be washing out the outside and the inside when you do decide to tackle the project.

The one thing you should not let go for too long are your windows. Even if the rest of the outside is dirty, do not let the windows get that way.

This is because you must look out of them every time you drive. And it is not safe for them to be dirty because it will get in your line of sight and may cause some type of accident.

The last reason you want to get into an accident is because you couldn't see exactly what was happening on the road. A lot of automobile accidents are preventable and are caused because people are not careful enough to follow the laws of the road.

When you clean your car, do the windows last. Pick out a glass cleaner that will get the job done.

You can use a house hold ammonia based cleaner, a professional glass cleaner without ammonia, a vinegar and water solution, a car wash soap and water solution, or if you need to you can just use water by itself. All of these solutions will be able to do a good enough job if you scrub hard enough and do not let it go for too long without washing it.

Spray on whatever cleaner you chose to use and grab your newspaper, microfiber cloth, or paper towel and start scrubbing. Do not spray all of the surfaces at once because it will dry out and leave marks before you are able to get to it.

Spray the stuff in smaller sections so you can wash it before it dries. Otherwise you will just have to spray more stuff and waste your cleaner.

When you go on the inside of the automobile, then do not spray anything because it will contaminate the whole inside and get everywhere. Instead what you can do is to spray the cleaner on the cloth and then use the cloth to scrub the inside.

This will keep all of the liquid from contaminating the inside of the automobile and getting it in the air around you. Use long strokes when washing the windshield so help you avoid too many marks.

For any marks that are left over, turn your cloth or paper towel around to other side (or grab a fresh clean one) so that it is dry and go over the surface with the dry side. Going over the surface with a dry cloth will help remove any cleaner residue that was not removed beforehand.

Repeat this process as many times as you need to until you get all of the dirt and dead bugs off of the windows on the inside and the outside of your automobile. Do not just do the front and back windows.

You need to make sure that you take care of every single piece of glass in that automobile because you do not want any blind spots while you are driving. This means that you need to wash all of the side and passenger windows as long as the rearview mirror in the inside of the automobile as well as the side rearview mirrors on the outside of the automobile.

When you are cleaning off the windshield, you can lift up the wipers so that you can reach the entire surface. If you take good care of your windshield wipers by keeping them clean and replacing them every few months, then it will help keep your windshield cleaner and ultimately keep you and your passengers safer.
