What do you think about when you set about booking a beach holiday in a nice hot part of the world? You think about sunbathing of course, but the chances are good you will also think about being able to take a dip in the sea.

The good news is that some places offer far more in the way of opportunities for water sports than others. One of the best is arguably Sharm el Sheikh, which is a popular holiday spot many people go to in Egypt. If you love your water sports, you'll love the wide range you will be able to try out there.

For starters the waters are nice and warm, so you won't have to spend long acclimatising yourself to the temperature of the water. There are also some great activities for everyone no matter how used to the water they are.

For instance, you can try out snorkelling if you would prefer to stay near the surface of the water. Thanks to its position near the Red Sea, Sharm el Sheikh offers a superb snorkelling experience right near the shore. Watch out for the fish as they swim past you, and remember that if you keep still you stand a chance of seeing even more of them.

Even if you cannot swim you can still enjoy seeing what's beneath the waves by taking one of the glass bottomed boat trips that regularly leave the area. These trips usually last for an hour or two and give you a chance to enjoy some of the local life that you cannot see from the beach.

Of course some people who head to Sharm el Sheikh for a well earned break have something else a bit more advanced in mind. Scuba diving in the region is very popular thanks to the vast numbers of fish and coral that are there to be seen. There are also plenty of diving companies in the area so you shouldn't have any problems booking in for a trip beneath the waves to see some of the best scuba diving sights in the world.

You don't have to go below the water level to enjoy the water sports on offer though. You can also try your hand at water skiing, sailing and wind surfing. Most of these sports are available to book for half an hour or an hour, giving you plenty of time to practise your technique.

In fact when you have booked your flights to Sharm el Sheikh you can start looking into the possibility of booking some scuba diving lessons as well, or whatever other water sport takes your fancy. Who knows, it could even be the start of a whole new hobby.
