subject: Puppy Obedience Training by reinforcement [print this page]

It is very much essential to give dog obedience training to your puppies for they are not born with manners as human beings are and hence the timely training helps them acquire manners.

One must understand the nature of the dog, before starting to train it. From the very moment of its birth, puppies are willing to learn new things.

Teaching discipline to your puppy should be mixed with love and proper exercise which should be started the same of acquiring your puppy.

They must understand that they should obey their master's commands. If you give them good obedience training, they will readily listen and obey your commands.

Make your dog obey you willingly, by rewarding it suitably whenever it shows signs of positive gesture. Then it will take a liking to obey you automatically.

Strict enforcement of rules at an early stage is very essential. They must know their limits and learn not to go beyond them.

Even when the dog is happy or excited, it must not be allowed to break the rules. Food, walk, play and sleep must go on as per the time schedule.

Some bad habits like chewing the furniture, jumping on the people, barking without reason and digging should not be encouraged. Training process should include toilet training, sleeping and eating scheduling.

These areas should be trained with utmost care to make it form good habits. Using a leash and a neckband while walking and when the family is away, will help to avoid accidents.

You may very well allow your dog to meet other people and other species under your supervision. Do not confine your dog to isolated place, for if done it may develop such habits as barking, showing aggression, anxiety and excessive fear.

Give your dogs some dog toys like Dog leashes, Rope Dog Toys, Vinyl Dog Toys, Fleece Dog Toys, Canvas Dog Toys, Puppy Treats, and Frisbees so that they play with them and forget the habit of biting.

Choose such toys that your dog would love to eat for training it, like soft ball, squeaky toys, and fleece toys. These toys would interest your dog.

To train your dog to overcome the habit of chewing the furniture, you may give it chew toys like nylon bone, chewy rope, chewy tire and tennis ball etc. Don't give vent for all its desires. But try to reward it when it exhibits favorable and desired attitude.

Don't be harsh or severe when training your dog. Careful watching of their behavior will make us not to punish without reasons.

If you want your dog to realize its boundaries and stay within its limits, it must be well trained with dog obedience training.
