SkateAmerica: Female Pro Skateboarders

Although no one could really tell who invented it first, many males appeared in history for excelling the new sport. Some of which are Torger Johnson, Woody Woodward, and Danny Berer. Check out SkateAmerica, the popular skateboarding online store, to see a list of Pro Skaters.

Because the first skateboarders who emerged in history were males, it became an impression that skateboarding is only or is appropriately exclusive for males. Although quite plenty of females think that the sport is fun, it was rare that they actually went for it. Some were scared to be stereotyped as tomboys and some thought that they could not excel in it.

However, girl power has dominated in some females. They took the risk just to do something that they love. Not only did they try it, but they outstandingly shone amongst the others, even from males. Here are some famous female pro skateboarders and their stories.

Elissa Steamer was born on July 31, 1975 at Ricardo Avenue, Fort Myers, Florida. She attended Fort Myers High School although she spent most of her time at Allen Park Elementary nearby. On Allen Park Elementary parking lot, she practiced skateboarding which began in 1989. She joined the women's street section at Slam City Jam by 1998 and won first place, turning herself into a pro. She won the same section the following year and also got the Female Skater of the Year Award in 2003.
