subject: Nfl Tickets - Prospect Watch [print this page] Here are some NFL draft prospects that I will be keeping my eye on throughout the pre-draft process.
Ndamukong Suh, Defensive Tackle, Nebraska: Suh, in my opinion, is the best player in the draft and should go number one no matter which team ends up with the top pick. I know skill position players are the ones that sell NFL tickets, but Suh's ability is undeniable. He's absolutely relentless and is already a really good run stopper. He's also got a lot of potential as a pass rusher and I've heard him compared to Warren Sapp on several occasions. He's the top prospect in this draft.
Eric Berry, Safety, Tennessee: Berry, in my opinion, is the second-best player in the draft. Safeties don't usually go in the top three picks, though, so I'm curious to see if a team likes him enough to use that high of a pick on him. I think he's an instant impact starter and could really help out a struggling secondary.
Gerald McCoy, Defensive Tackle, Oklahoma: McCoy would be the best defensive tackle in almost any other draft, but Suh just happens to be in this one. He should go very high, as top-rated defensive tackles tend to do, and the team who lands him will not be disappointed.
Carlos Dunlap, Defensive End, Florida: He was arrested for DUI the week of the SEC Championship game. What does that tell you about his decision-making? Still, he's extremely talented, but could be a workout warrior, a la Vernon Gholston. He could be a top 10 pick or slide down the draft board in a freefall. His stock will be in interesting one to watch.
Sam Bradford, Quarterback, Oklahoma: Bradford could quite possibly be the most interesting player in this draft. The Heisman winner was all but assured a spot in the top three picks last season, perhaps even number one, but he elected to return for what ended up being an injury-plagued 2009 campaign. Still, he's smart and very accurate; two things that usually equal success on the next level. How he checks out physically will have a lot to do with how high he's drafted, but a lot of scouts still see him as the top quarterback in this draft class.
Dez Bryant, Wide Receiver, Oklahoma State: Bryant missed much of the season due to a suspension for violating NCAA rules. It seemed like an innocent mistake that was punished harshly, but it will be interesting to see what happens with his draft stock. He's a big receiver with playmaking ability in the return game, as well.
C.J. Spiller, Running Back, Clemson: Most people are expecting Spiller to run a 40 in the 4.3 range come combine time. I really like his versatile skill set, especially for a guy with his speed. I think he could be an instant impact player, even if he doesn't shape up to be an every down back.
Jimmy Clausen, Quarterback, Notre Dame: Some people seem to love him and some think he's got too many weaknesses to succeed in the NFL. I have no idea where he will go as of now, but it will be fun to monitor his value.
Taylor Mays, Safety, USC: Mays probably would have been a top 10 pick last draft, but returned to USC only to see his stock slip. He should wow at the combine, though, and could do much to repair it.
Colt McCoy, Quarterback, Texas: I don't think he's a first-rounder, but there's a chance that someone likes him enough to reach for him. He's tough to rate.
Tim Tebow, Quarterback, Florida: This will be really interesting. Will the Jags reach for him in order to boost ticket sales? Will he slip to the late rounds of the draft? Will a team draft him as a quarterback or with the intention of playing him somewhere else? Will a team fall in love with his intangibles and pick him much higher than expected? There are a lot of questions surrounding Tebow's draft status.
