subject: 2010 Nfl Playoff Tickets - Afc Playoff Picture [print this page] Here is a look at the AFC playoff picture as of Dec.15, 2009.
Indianapolis Colts (13-0): We already know that the Colts will be selling 2010 NFL playoff tickets, as they've sewn up the AFC South title and the number one seed in the conference.
San Diego Chargers (10-3): They've just about wrapped up the AFC West title and are in a great position to land the number two seed and a first-round bye. This team has won eight in a row and nobody is going to want to play them in the playoffs.
Cincinnati Bengals (9-4): They got beaten pretty handily by Minnesota in last week, but they're still just a win away from clinching the AFC North title. What a surprise that is.
New England Patriots (8-5): The Pats are only one game up on the Dolphins and Jets right now, but are widely regarded as the best team in the AFC East. They've hit some bumps in the road this season, but they should be the fourth seed when everything is said and done.
Denver Broncos (8-5): The Broncos would be the fifth seed if the season ended today. They've been a surprise this season and have a great shot at a Wild Card berth. Two of their remaining games are at home against Kansas City and Oakland. They should notch 10 wins, which should get them into the postseason. This team could be dangerous in the playoffs. Their defense seems to have regained their mojo and the offense is capable of providing a balanced attack.
Miami Dolphins (7-6): The Dolphins would snag the sixth seed if the season were to end today. I can't believe that is true. I know they made it last season, but when Chad Pennington went down for the year I figured that it was rebuilding time for the Fins and they'd be back in the postseason in a couple of seasons. Chad Henne has proved to be readier than anyone expected, aside from maybe Bill Parcells, who looks to be more of a personnel genius by the day.
The Ricky Williams reclamation project is in full swing and he's providing the Dolphins with a very good rushing attack. They probably couldn't make too much noise in the playoffs this season, but the future in South Florida looks very bright for this club.
Jacksonville Jaguars (7-6): The Jags have been up and down this year, and they won't make the playoffs unless they can be consistent over the final three games of the regular season. They need to lean on running back Maurice Jones-Drew and let their best player carry them to the postseason.
Baltimore Ravens (7-6): The Ravens are still in it, but they're going to need things to break in their favor. I think they're a year or two away from being a dynamic offensive unit, but the aging defense worries me.
New York Jets (7-6): I don't see much chance of the Jets getting into the playoffs considering the tiebreaker situation with their division rivals. They're definitely a team to watch out for next season, though.
