subject: Beer Pong House Rules [print this page]

Beer Pong rules (just like anything) develop and establish over time. It's amazing, when you step back and think about it, the rules and regulations originated from one simple game and spread. The rules that worked out from many games down the evolutionary tree made the game more challenging and fun. Beer pong not only spread like wild fire, but so did its rules.

When I play beer pong with my friends, we have a great time playing for hours (or at least Beer pong has to be one of the best drinking games until everything is blurry). House rules make the game so much harder to play because every time you go to someone's place to play the game, they always have a different set of house rules; which always makes the game more challenging and fun.

I've gotten beaten at beer pong in the worst way. It happened as follows, there is one cup left on each end of the table; its showdown time and my brother is at the opposite end. So, now it's my shot, "Boom", in the cup the ball goes and I'm thinking, "Heck, yeah!" The game is finished and I'm the winner (or so I thought). Unluckily, my brother calls out "Redemption!" before I throw the ball. Which so has it, when a team is down to one cup and before the other team throws their ball, you must call out "redemption". This means if you make the last shot and the ball goes in; the opposite team gets a chance to win. There is a catch though, the other team has only one chance and they must throw the beer pong ball under hand and behind their back. So I'm thinking, "There's no way he's going to make it in the cup!" and we were sloshed. Just as you would assume, he makes the shot under hand and behind his back and the ball goes in the cup. I have twelve years of playing beer pong under my belt and one little house rule changed the whole game in a second.

The house rules are what keep the game of beer pong worth playing. Any nationally played sport amends rules too and hopefully it's for the better. I think it makes the game more interesting and fun to play. I think everybody should have their own set of house rules for beer pong. That's what makes beer pong what it is.

The game of beer pong is constantly reinventing itself because of different house rules. Aside from the standard rules, you will always find that somebody has different set of house rules; this is what sets beer pong apart from the rest of the drinking games that are out there today.
