subject: 1.self-development: Tips To Become A Successful Journalist [print this page]

Do you want to become a journalist or a reporter? Are you a novice journalist who wants to win The Pulitzer Prize? You need to self-develop constantly. Even if you wrote marvelous articles for your school newspaper, you need to learn more and become special. How can you become a peculiar professional?

Be exciting and informative

First of all, you must be interesting and bring something new. Your readers should receive the information which can be useful for them. It is possible in two cases:

1.Broaden readers horizons. Your articles should contain some interesting facts or trends. Your readers should read your articles nodding in surprise or indignation. Open up new worlds even in your native city.

2.Be helpful. If there is any tiny possibility to give your readers some recommendations in your article, do it. For instance, if you are writing about the world best-know resorts; give few tips how people can have some rest even in your town. It is very often that people, for some reasons, cannot leave the town, and your hints can be very useful for them.

How can you know so many interesting things? You should travel, communicate with different people and, of course, read a lot.

Work out your style

Appeal to your readers emotions, they should never feel bored while reading your articles. Use catching metaphors, associations and allusions. To become a famous winner of the Pulitzer Prize you should have your own style. How to work it out? Read a lot of classic and modern literature. Analyze different styles, and synthesize your own.

Finally, you should practice a lot to make your writing perfect. So, write many articles and ask your friends and relatives to express their opinions as for the papers. Thus, in the nearest future you will obtain your own style which will lead you to recognition.
