Ethiopia is very beautiful, offering natural contrast starting from the depths of Danakil depression that is 120 meters below sea level to the top rugged mountains know as Simien. There are spectacular landscapes from the Alpine highlands that rise 4,300 meters, white-water rivers, giant waterfalls, splendor of the Great Rift Valley, jungles and a lush savanna teeming with wildlife. There are also numerous parks to savor wildlife at its best. The list is endless. Ethiopia is endowed with wonders. Lake Tana the largest in Ethiopia is the source of the famous Blue Nile as it starts its journey to Khartoum Sudan. There are 37 islands on the lake that preserve great history. On the islands stands, fascinating churches and monasteries that date back to the 13th century. There is a depression know as Dallol situated where the Rift Valley meets the Red sea. This place is very inhospitable and was once flooded by the Red sea due to subsequent volcanic activities. Ethiopia has several national parks that are a must see for anyone who loves nature. There is Abijatta that is surrounded mainly by acacia woodland. This park is around 887 square kilometers and half of it is covered by water. There are two lakes in the park. One of them is Lake Abijjatta and its only 14 meters deep. The other one is contrast of the former and it's called Lake Shalla and has a depth of 260 meter. There are parks, like the Awash Nation Park, Bale Mountains National Park and Gambella National Park.
