subject: Acne - A Bane For Adults Too [print this page]

Acne has become one of the most common skin problems in adults lately. Despite being the trademark problem of teenagers, its influence on adults cannot be ignored. The number of adult acne cases is rising gradually due to a host of reasons.

Research explains that one of the biggest causes of adult acne is stress. Stress has become a part of every day life. And it is the women in particular who are more likely to experience this problem. Since today's women go through greater stress when compared to their male counterparts, their skin grows less resistant to such problems. In addition, natural hormonal imbalances that cause acne occur in women like when they are pregnant or during their menstruation period.

Another reason for adult acne to have become so common these days is the environmental conditions. Excess dust and pollution causes the pores of the skin to get clogged and infected. Inadequate skin care and hygiene will only leave the skin more vulnerable to acne flare ups.

The kind of life that adults lead also influences to a great extent their skins susceptibility to acne. Those who indulge in drinking alcohol and consuming nicotine are at greater risks of acne and other skin troubles.

Attentive skin care and maintenance can go a long way in avoiding the development of acne. Frequent face washes and application of protective creams when outdoors help. So the best thing would be to take preventive measures than to go through the process of getting it cured.

Healthy eating does wonders to your skin. Intake of lots of vegetables and fruits and drinking lots of water is the secret to a clear skin. Junk food should be avoided as far as possible. Adequate and timely sleep is most important that allows the skin pores to relax.
