Rick Washbrook guitarist welcomes you to phone or have a visit. I would like to get to know about your goals as a guitarist, song writer, experimental sound musician in these times.
I am still relatively new to "Oakville". I have slowly built up a nice student bass from word of mouth, and the "Oakville Beaver" over the past three years I have lived here.
I am always looking for more students to work with. The "Town Of Oakville" has a large population. There is a lot of great "Oakville Music" around.
I certainly am excited to be back teaching music this Fall. I teach many style's, and have a good ear to pick up those tricky parts you cant find on tab. Just bring me the CD. I am one small "oakville music store".
Beginners, intermediate, up to elderly interested in Jazz/Blues guitar.
I was awarded in 1998 the top Blues Guitarist & Blues band "The Warriors" at the Canadian Music contest convention. Out of all Canadian Submissions I was top ten in the blues genre. It was an Honor. This achievement got me to play all around the world. It was amazing to play through the States, Costa Rica. Switzerland Davos Platz, and routine work in Ontario.
Teaching is my life. I have so much passion for it.
The subject of learning I have examined for years. I truly have witnessed some excel in something in a practical way, and someone else appear to be extremely week at it. This does not mean the one that appears to be weaker doesn't understand it. If anything I have seen that they understand it at an even a deeper more advanced higher level.
Another way to say it is everyone in life finds some discipline. The word discipline referring to learning the craft for example, playing Guitar well. The other person may appear to play guitar not as good but in many ways they understand it more than the person that plays it well. Its just that it is still hidden in them. It is obscured. The weaker players latent potential can be far more vast.
To sum up my teaching beliefs and experience. I had a wonderful music teacher Mr.Magrath I studied with in high school. He excited my creative thoughts, and feeling for life in every class. I remember him explaining to us young kids many times that music has to do with everything. That is very hard to understand when your just 17. Some would understand from their experience view point of loving music. others from other points of view.
Discipline doesn't just mean to discipline the child to finish all the dinner before leaving the table. The other meaning of discipline is. The discipline of woodworking, the discipline of playing the guitar, the discipline of playing football, the discipline of math. the discipline of being a social work.
Young or old..... an old dog can learn new tricks. It's never to late to learn a new discipline. Why? Young or old, each of us has a discipline we know well and enjoy. It doesn't matter if your extremely good at it or fair. When you want to learn something new one should learn it through their eyes of the discipline they already know well. This is the key.
