For owners who want their dogs to enjoy the experience of travelling in a crate then you first need to get them use to the idea of it.

Below we offer a few tips you may find very useful if you intend to train your dog to travel in a crate in the future.

Tip 1 The first thing you need to do is actually go out and purchase the right size crate for your dog to travel in. If you are using it for a puppy then make sure that you choose one that will be large enough for them to use when they are older. Make sure it is of a size that will allow them not only plenty of room to lie down but also to stand up.

Tip 2 To get them used to using it place it in a position in your home where they are going to be the most often. Also to further get them use to it leave the door of the crate open and place something treat inside it. This will make them curious to find out what the crate is and the treat will help to entice them inside it.

Tip 3 Owners who are more casual about crate training a dog will find that their dog will feel more comfortable about using this new thing. Whereas if you make negative comments then they are likely to be afraid of getting into the crate.

Tip 4 As your dog gets more and more use to the crate then over time reduce the number of treats you leave inside it. Also to further make them feel comfortable when crate training a dog that you place some items that they like inside. Things you can consider putting in them is a blanket or some kind of toy.
