subject: What Is A Reiki Course? [print this page]

The best way to becoming acquainted to the art of palm healing is by taking the Reiki Course. In this ancient Tibetan procedure, the infinite energies from the universe are tamed to solve all problems in one's mind, body and soul. A beginner gets to access this power and channelize it toward healing and aiding others from the plane of his palm.

The two words "Rei' and 'Ki' mean 'Universal' and 'Life force Energy' respectively. Reiki believes in the existence of seven Reiki chakras or energy whorls in a human body placed in a vertical line from the base of the spine to the crown of the head which are the receiving and transmitting points for the same, helping to maintain the energy flow and balance within the body as well as in tune to the infinite energy of the cosmos.

Reiki Courses teach the beginner how to access and thereafter channelize the energy flow through his palms. Thus, its two parts comprise of learning how to access the universal energy at first and then how to channelize it through the palms onto another's body. The modern Reiki practiced and taught in the Reiki Course today is a combined product of the Ancient Tibetan techniques and suggested methods from the famous Dr. Mikao Usui, founder of the Usui system, which promoted Reiki in the early 20th century.

A Reiki course is directed towards fulfilling two different purposes through palm healing. The first purpose is relaxation or whole body treatment. Thus, basic Reiki hand positions and palm healing techniques are taught in the Reiki course for opening up the different Reiki chakras which are blocked, and balancing the imbalanced energy flow of the Chakras for attaining wholesome wellbeing of an individual, physically, psychologically, mentally and spiritually.

The more prevalent purpose of the use of Reiki is to restore health conditions of one or a few specific parts of the body using palm skills. Usually, hand techniques are employed over the specific Chakras of the injured or ailing persons. To achieve optimum results in the healing process, one is taught advanced hand techniques and palm positions.

Reiki course is undertaken in three degrees or levels. In the first level, basic hand positions are taught while in the second level, recipients are introduced to some Reiki symbols which empower the healing process. At the end of this second level, the recipients are able to heal people across time and space.

In the third degree, a Reiki Master will guide the recipients to learn advanced Reiki symbols and achieve expertise in a chosen few of the same. With the completion of the third level, the recipient becomes a Master himself. He himself could now teach others and take Reiki Courses for other apprentices.

The steady course of action in which a Master undertakes the responsibility to make each student attain Reiki expertise is called the Reiki Attunement Process. It may be training, but this Reiki Course does not take place in a study room or a lecture hall. It happens when powers are transferred from the palms of the Master to the palms of the student, thus enabling him to practice reiki to touch and heal lives of his fellow human beings.
