subject: Above The Waters, Above The Problems [print this page]

Problems come in so many different shapes that they can sometimes seem to cover everything we believe in. When you look at your life sometimes it may seem like the problems are a stretch of water going over and over everything that you believe in or your very existence. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth but before that his spirit hovered over the waters.

No matter how deep problems maybe there is always a solution but the solution cannot be found if you are drowning within the problems. If you are inside the oceans of problems you become part of the problem and it becomes difficult to solve it. When you find yourself covered in problems sometimes the best thing to do is to hover on top. In other words it is a good thing to become an observer for a while. This is done in order to understand the problem first before you come up with solutions to the problems. Your spirit instead of becoming agitated about the deepness of the problem becomes more comprehensive of the possible solutions. If you are inside the oceans of problems there is always that tendency to be overwhelmed by the size of the problems. It is like standing at the base of the mountain and wondering how you could ever climb it.

Hovering above the waters also requires that you see the extent of the problem. You do not look at the problem in order to admire it but you look at the problem in order to see how far your solution has to go. Most of the times we underestimate the problems thinking that we know what we have to do and then we are surprised just how wide the problem is. Any good leader knows that in order to solve the problem one has to listen and hear from all the different parts of the populations. If you neglect to this you may just miss a part which could more problematic in the future than the one you thought you solved.

Problems will come and they will go, how long they stay is up to how we approach dealing with them. If we chose to be part of the problem by swimming with the problem we will soon discover that our every thought is oriented towards being a problem. In other words we are defeated before we even start. It is thus necessary to ensure that we see ourselves not as part of the problem but as a separate entity from the problem. The moment we become part of the problem in our minds we will never solve it. This is why we begin to feel like life is like that and we cannot see anything different. As time goes we begin to think that there can never be a solution and we just learn to swim with the rest of the crowd.
