subject: How to Burn Body Fat Naturally [print this page]

It's amazing how prevalent artificial ways of losing weight are these days. Considering that it's in large part due to our artificial way of living that so many people are overweight, you'd think we'd work on how to burn body fat by natural means.

Instead, our consumer based culture has veered toward "laboratory techniques," rather than consider how our ancestors stayed fit.

Our Hunter-Gatherer Ancestors Ate Food that Burns Fat

Before the days of agriculture, humans were hunter-gatherers. They hunted for meatwithout knowing that lean meat is food that burns fat. They ate fruits, nuts and vegetables that they found. They lived in harmony with nature.

They had no idea that this diet kept them lean. Once agriculture was discovered as a means to not work as hard to get food, bread became the staple of the human diet.

As society proceeded in this direction, humanity became more rotund. It seemed with the industrial revolution that there was no turning back. While much great advancement was made due to these developments, our waistlines weren't part of the bargain.

Enter the Fast Food Culture

The final blow on our dietary health was the rise of the fast food culture. True to the mentality developed from the Industrial Revolution, fast food restaurants delivered food to our mouths at an ever quickening pace, and it was relatively inexpensive compared to more upscale restaurants. Consumer culture, after all, demands quick service for a minimal cost.

What the trade off ultimately was our waistlines, arteries, our liversour overall health for this convenience. Lower quality meat was slung over the counter to us. Eventually soy became part of the mixture. In both instances, that meant more fat on us.

Then, of course, you can't forget French frieshigh in carbs, salt and grease. Soda pop also became a large part of our diet at the time, and it did nothing to help, being full of sugar and artificial ingredients such as caffeineafter they quit using cocaine in their formulas.

So Begins the Diet Craze

Realizing that we had a serious problem on our hands, health professionals and quacks alike started the diet craze. In the old days, there were many far-fetched and half-baked ideas being sold to the public.

Very little has changed to this day. The consumer based culture kept demanding a miracle pill, and salespeople gladly obliged. Unfortunately, while in some cases it made people thin, it never did anything for their overall health.

Now so many fad diets have come and gone. Some of the less effective, but safer diets have managed to have some longevity. Until recently, no one really considered that eating how we were designed to eat might be the way to go. Does that mean we have to hunt our own meat, pick our own berries and greens and such? No.

How to burn body fat by eating like our ancestors does not mean that we have to get our food like they did. We have organic food markets and grocery store sections. If the "hunter" part of our past does not appeal to you, you don't have to start eating meat. Nuts were a large part of our ancestral diet, and they're a completely viable form of protein.
