subject: Dont Move, Improve [print this page]

People may be considering moving house but if this seems like you are likely to lose out on some money then this is clearly something you should not be doing. Instead of moving home consider making improvements to your existing one.

There are a range of improvements you could make that will give your home a new look and improve its value for when the housing market upturn begins. Conservatories are something the family can benefit from because apart from just having it as a place to relax and enjoy the views you may have from the back of your house, they can be turned into a games room for the children. A games room would be great fun (not just for the kids!) especially at Christmas where there are generally games galore.

There is a wide range of opportunities if you are having a conservatory built as it could be turned into a study for you or partner or even an extra bedroom, a guest room maybe. Turning it into a bedroom would be a good choice as you could market your house with an extra bedroom which would add to its value. If you are just making the improvement for your purpose though, a family choice should be made and one that everyone could get use out of.

Double glazing is being encouraged to everyone around the UK as the benefits of having it installed are being promoted. In case you are not aware of these benefits then here they are again; a possible saving of around 150 a year as it reduces the heat loss in your home and therefore you do not have to use your central heating as much. You cut down on the amount of CO2 you release again due to using less heating and keep your home nice and warm throughout Christmas.

Added to this, if you live in a busy area then the double glazing is great as it acts a sound barrier so if you have trouble sleeping at night because of the cars driving by or other reasons you can rest easily at night. Improving your home is more cost effective then moving but preparing your home if you want to move in the near future is still a good idea.
