subject: Some Of The More Common Home Security Complaints [print this page]

Just about every consumer could probably agree that the concept of home security is such an important one (mainly because of personal safety) that an entire flourishing marketplace full of products are released and sold everyday to support it. Sometimes these products and services carry complaints so we will be taking a deeper look for some of the more common home security complaints.

With the internet becoming such a widely used thing, you should not buy any product or service without hitting the net to first see what other people are saying about it. Be sure to read more than one review as well if you want to get a good idea of what the company is really like. You could even join a web postings group that centers around what product or service you want to buy.

One complaint that we find to be common among most security companies is that they have sales people or were either false or misleading. The line between suggestive selling and downright tricking the consumer is a very thin one. This is why, unless you have a copy of the actual conversation to reference, it is hard to tell how legitimate some of these complaints are.

The home security system sometimes has the very nasty habit of being triggered when we do not want it to go off and a lot of people have already been made well aware of this. The problem really occurs when the system is very tough to disarm. Since security personal know that safety is on the line, you have to provide them with certain information that you should have handy to prove that you are really the home owner and not a threat.

The billing departments that most of these companies offer typically get a larger number of customer complaints than any other departments or representatives do. It is really not a secret that most of us are ready to get in a heated verbal disagreement when our money is involved. While every company has some rude representatives, this is not as common as some would like you to believe.

The overall amount of money that a system winds up costing the consumer is sometimes a very big issue that some customers have within this industry. The actual equipment has to be bought and paid for and then there is the regular fee of the services that are provided. When you stop to think that some of these companies charge for the installation, it's not hard to see why the price sometimes gets so high.

It is not a very uncommon thing to see a complaint that centers on the fact that these services can sometimes take a while to cancel. The problem that most customers have with this is that they are getting billed in the mean time. It is is important to check your contract and ask the company directly how long it takes to cancel any service. This is good to know before you invest in the service.

That that you are more in tune with some of the more common home security complaints, feel free to start the process of shopping if you need such a thing for the safety of you home. Just be sure to always remember that every complaint you come across will not be a completely legitimate on. There are some websites out there that specialize in claims that are both false as well as slanderous.
