subject: Meeting My Goals With Medical Transcription Jobs [print this page] The reason I am pursuing my goal of becoming a medical transcriptionist is because I have worked in a hospital for 28 years. During those 28 years I have had the opportunity to become familiar with the medical field and develop an understanding for the many different specialties within medicine. I have also had the opportunity to provide transcription for a variety of providers within the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialty. I have typed for physical, occupational and speech therapists, as well as physiatrists. I have also completed a medical terminology class which I found to be very helpful in providing a better understanding of medical terms. I find that medical transcription is a way to incorporate typing, one of my most enjoyable hobbies with continued learning about the medical profession. During my years transcribing for providers in the specialty of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, I have learned an enormous amount about musculoskeletal diseases as well exposure to many medical terms related to cardiovascular and orthopedic conditions and symptoms.
In doing this work, I realized there is so much more to learn in the medical transcription field that I have made it my goal to become a certified medical transcriptionist. Some of the advantages of medical transcription jobs that I am most interested in are being able to work from home and be able to spend time with my family. I am currently working two jobs, a full-time job as a systems analyst, as well as a part-time job as a medical transcriptionist. Because my second job currently requires me to work in a providers office, I am seldom home with my family. I am looking forward to the opportunity to work from home and also to be able to work as many hours as I would like. I often work well into the midnight hours during my current transcription job and would enjoy being able to do so from my home, where no driving would be necessary at the end of my workday. I have a very strong work ethic and find transcription to be an enjoyable hobby rather than a job so being able to do it whenever I want would be a real plus.
My reasons for choosing Future MT for my medical transcription training were multiple. I found the website to offer vast information not only on the curriculum and program they offer, but also what the opportunities for employment are after completing of the program. I it also reassuring to see that Future MT offers such a comprehensive employment placement service at the completion of the program. I am also very pleased to see that I can learn at my own pace whenever it is convenient for my schedule. Working two jobs and completing the certification program as well, it is important that I be able to study and learn at various times of the day, as well as during the weekends. Having a mentoring program is also one of the many reasons I chose to complete my education with Future MT. My career and education goals once I have completed my medical transcription training are numerous. SN:0TG9Y2ESY
First, I want to secure a position working with a company that I can form a lasting working relationship with, as I have with the hospital where I have worked for the last 28 years! It is also my goal, once I have complete the medical transcription training, to successfully obtain a Registered Medical Transcriptionist classification, and then when I have completed the required years of experiences, obtaining my Certified Medical Transcriptionist classification. My goal is to continue to work at home as a medical transcriptionist and to eventually be able to retire and continue to work at home as a medical transcriptionist.
