subject: Keeping Your Dallas Wood Floors In Perfect Shape [print this page]

A house is never a complete structure without its ceilings, its walls, and its floors. However, there are a lot of times that care within the house is limited only to furniture and equipment, and only very seldom to those three. Floors, especially Dallas hardwood floors, carry out a warm, homey appearance that best be maintained, whether they be solid hardwood floorings or engineered hardwood ones.

The good news is that wood floors are said to be the easiest to maintain, however, imposing the right measures must be taken into account. There are some maintenance methods that, though seemingly promising, may actually be damaging to wood floors. Here are guides to the right maintenance of wood flooring.

Before thinking of ways to deal with damages such as stains, scratches, dents and all things similar, prevention is the key to wood floor maintenance.

1.Choosing the right broom is a good start. Sweeping can cause minor scratches to wooden floors if not done correctly and with the right equipment so it is good to choose soft bristled brooms or better yet, opt for vacuum cleaners, especially for hard to reach areas.

2.To avoid from getting any dust, debris and other potentially damaging things in the house and onto the floor, there is a need to put floor rugs and doormats at every entry point. Always remember to shake and dust them off every once in a while, as well.

3.Do not mop a Dallas wood floor with a soaking wet mop. Note to never forget that too much liquid does not go well with wood floors. When mopping, wring the mop completely and have it only the dampest possible needed to let the dust stick on to the mop.

Do not slide furniture all around the wooden floors as this will obviously cause scratches. As much as possible, lift them when moving. Cover the foot of chairs and tables with protectors, as well.

4.Avoid walking on wooden floors with high heels, sport shoes/spikes, and other damaging footwear. It can bring dust and debris in, and it can directly scratch the floor surface.

5.Periodically wax and shine wooden flooring, but never too much. However, avoid oil-based waxes for sealed floors as this may encourage smudges. A lot of homeowners do not know that.

Hardwood floor maintenance will help you keep your Dallas hardwood floors in perfect shape. Keeping them all tidy, new-looking, and shiny is definitely a good part for an overall relaxing and warm home life.
