subject: The Truth About Sciatica [print this page]

We will be talking about five common myths or misconceptions about back pain in the near future. The first misconception is, ironically, about that horrid pain that you may feel down the length of your leg. The pain is so extreme that it consumes you and you find yourself in the doctors office. The physician prescribes an MRI and a number of other expensive tests, but results are inconclusive and nothing helpful shows up from the examinations. You are still in pain and growing more frustrated and upset.

There is a solution, we promise! What your physician does not even know or is not telling you can make a world of difference for you.

The human body has a little muscle, approximately 5 inches long, in the hip. This tiny muscle is often the reason for the pain you feel! The muscle squeezes the sciatic nerve, which results in this horrible leg pain. Other signs of sciatica may also include tingling, numbness or weakness that travels down the sciatic nerve to the back of the leg. It may feel as if you have a slipped or herniated disc, but that simply is not the situation.

We have bad news and good news for you. The bad news is that there is no costly medical test or MRI that can show this to you. The good news is that there is a much simpler solution! The problem itself is much smaller than your other doctors, maybe even including other chiropractors, have told you. With that said, it is also much easier (and cheaper!) to fix.

Are you facing sciatic pain or know someone who is? Stop by your chiropractor for an examination and get started down the road to recovery!
