subject: How Anyone Can Make Money On Internet [print this page]

We have all seen the advertisements of how one can make a fortune on the Internet in 30 days. The guys advertising these programs often explain how they went bankrupt and then stumbled on a little-known secret of how to make money on Internet. Within a year after that they were filthy rich and now they want to sell this secret to you.

Many of these programs are nothing but scams. Not all of them are, however. There are certainly expert online marketers out there and you can't expect them to share their knowledge with you without paying for it.

Broadly speaking there are only a couple of ways to make money online. Naturally you can sell your own products or services. For that you of course need a product or service that can be sold and delivered to people across the world. You can also sell other people's products by signing up for what is known as an affiliate program. A third category is multi-level marketing.

Affiliate programs cover a huge variety of products and services. With some of them you have to sell physical products, such as watches or DVD players. You get a commission every time you sell one of the products. Others require you to sell non-tangible products, such as e-books or online courses. Still others sell services, such as website hosting.

With multi-level marketing (MLM), there will also be a product or service to sell. And you will also get commission when you sell one of these on behalf of the parent company. The difference here is that you are supposed to recruit a sales team (your so-called downline) and you then also get commission on the sales of these people.

Whichever structure you choose and whatever you decide to sell, you will always need marketing skills. More specifically, you will need Internet marketing skills. The Internet is in many respects different from traditional marketing media. You will, therefore, have to learn about things like Search Engine optimization, the use of keywords, building mailing lists, copy writing and using social media websites to promote yourself.

To make money on Internet will also take some hard work. Don't believe the hype of getting rich overnight without lifting a finger. If you are not prepared to work, you will fail to make money offline. You will also fail to make money online. Be prepared to work and to learn how to effectively promote yourself on the Internet, and you are well on your way to success.
