The suspected burglar, who is from Wichita, is believed to have caused his own injury and subsequent death on Sunday by cutting and slicing his wrist on a windowpane of the house he was attempting to trespass into.
The thirty eight year old previously convicted criminal was apparently attempting the break in when he caused his injuries that resulted in his subsequent death.
The property owners were not in when the incident occurred. Investigating officers found blood on the side of the house window and on the door and the burglar himself was found three blocks away from the property. The man's name is not being released at the moment whilst police officer's attempt to discover his cause of death but the incident is not being treated as suspicious; officers believe he was injured due to his own actions.
Police received a report at 6.12 of a male victim who was believed to have cut himself badly. The police are currently investigating whether or not the man had an accomplice.
The dead man had a criminal record and has a long history with his local police department although burglary does not feature on his list of crimes or arrests police have revealed.
Autopsy results are due soon but police have stated that they have no doubt about the cause of death and are not expecting any new evidence to contradict their theory.
Investigations are sure that all the evidence they have looked at points to the cut wound on his wrist being caused by his own lapse in judgement. The door and the window both have blood on them so it unclear whether the injuries were sustained whilst attempting to enter through the door or window. A thorough investigation is being carried out.
