The tiny Piazza San Pier Maggiore, also called St. Pierino is located in the east of Florence, near Piazza SantaCroce. It takes its name from the church of San Pier Maggiore, a very important church, destroyed in 1783 onsuspicion of being unsafe. It remains only the arches of the portico of the church, two of which are buffered,which close the east side of the square. Even the adjoining convent was suppressed and used for other purposes.
