Trivandrum, the capital city of Kerala is one of the most beautiful cities of India. Mahatma Gandhi, the father of nation, referred this coastal city as "evergreen city of India". All thanks to its endless arrays of tourist attractions like exotic beaches, historic monuments, backwater stretches and a rich cultural heritage.

Area of Trivandrum:

Previously known as Thiruvananthapuram, shares its border with azure water of Arabian sea from west and Tamil Nadu from east. It has a total area of 2192 sq.km.

Similar to other Kerala cities, Trivandrum is beautified with several tourist spots .

Tourist Attractions of Trivandrum:

Kovalam Beach Kovalam beach is the pride of Trivandrum. This internationally renowned beach resort has been thronged by the visitors since 1960. It is located just 16 km away from this historic city.

Kovalam's sheltered natural bay is ringed by two rocky headlands. Its four beaches-Samudra beach, Ashok beach, Eve's beach and Lighthouse beach. All these beaches are located at a short distance from each other. Kovalam beach has no dearth of hotels, resorts and Ayurveda centers.

Padmanabha Swamy Temple - Located inside the East Fort, Padmanabha Swamy temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Here in this temple, the presiding deity i.e Lord Vishnu reclines on sacred serpent, Anantha. The architectural design of this temple reflects a fine blend of Kerala and Dravidian style of architecture. Mural paintings and stone carvings are the prime attractions of Padmanabha Swamy Temple.

Kuthiramalika Palace Museum - Built by Maharaja Swathi Thirunal Balarama Varma - the King of Travancore has constructed this palace museum. He was a great poet, musician, social reformer and statesman. This monument exhibits the Travancore style of architecture and used lots of wood carvings.This museum houses paintings and various priceless collections of the royal family.

Apart from them Trivandrum offers lots more tourist spots such as Napier museum, Sri Chitra Art Gallery, Akkulam Lake etc.

Tourist Season:

And to visit these interesting places, the most suitable time to visit Trivandrum is from September to May.

Air - Thiruvananthapuram international airport is just 6 kms from the citycentre.

Rail Indian railways joins Trivandrum with all the major cities of India.
