subject: Muse Tickets - Muse Scores Two Mtv Vma Nominations [print this page]

The nominations for the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards were announced on Aug. 3, and Muse's "Uprising" earned two nominations in the Best Rock Video and Best Special Effects categories. "Uprising" is in the running with 30 Seconds to Mars' "Kings and Queens," Florence and the Machine's "Dog Days Are Over," MGMT's "Flash Delirium" and Paramore's "Ignorance" while the other nominees for Best Special Effects are Dan Black's "Symphonies," Eminem's "Not Afraid," Green Day's "21st Century Breakdown" and Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance." This year's VMAs will take place in Los Angeles instead of the awards show's usual New York location on Sept. 12.

Twilight Saga fans will likely be voting for Muse in the Best Rock Video and Best Special Effects categories, as the British alt-rock band contributed songs to all three films in the popular Twilight franchise. Most recently, Muse provided the lead single for the soundtrack for the third film in the series, Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Titled "Neutron Star Collision (Love Is Forever)," the song follows in the footsteps of "Supermassive Black Hole" (which appeared on the soundtrack for the original Twilight film) and "I Belong To You (New Moon Remix)" (which appeared on the soundtrack for the second Twilight flick, Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Fans of Muse don't have to succumb to the Twilight craze to listen to the band's music, however, as lead singer Matthew Bellamy & Co. are currently on tour in support of 2009's The Resistance. The trio will be stopping in cities like San Diego, Calif.; Los Angeles, Calif.; Rio Rancho, N.M.; Denver, Colo.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Oklahoma City, Okla.; Cincinnati, Ohio; Newark, N.J. and more through October, after playing abroad for the majority of the summer.

Bellamy, Chris Wolstenholme and Dominic Howard will play at the Austin City Limits Festival while on the road as well. Fans with Muse tickets can see the band in Austin, Texas' Zilker Park on Oct. 9 for this year's ACL.

Bellamy & Co. are in good company at ACL, as the lineup includes Vampire Weekend, Blues Traveler, Spoon, the Black Keys, Pat Green, the Temper Trap, LCD Soundsystem, Norah Jones, the National, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and more. Muse is also slated to headline another Southern music festival, New Orleans' Voodoo Music Experience. The 2010 edition of the Big Easy music fest will take place during Halloween weekend (Oct. 29-31) and will also feature performances by My Morning Jacket, MGMT, Weezer, Ozzy Osbourne, Drake, Metric, Hot Chip, Interpol and more.

One Muse fan who is sure to be present at the band's upcoming gigs is Kate Hudson - at least if the current tabloid rumors are true. Monsters and Critics reports that the actress is planning to move to the U.K., where her current beau Bellamy resides when not on tour with the band. Hudson has been in the audience at Muse's summer gigs and rumor has it that things are getting serious between the couple. Bellamy isn't the first rocker with whom Hudson has had a relationship, as she ended her marriage with Chris Robinson (of the Black Crowes) three years ago.
