When it comes to dog training, no matter what breed of dog you do have, clicker training is found one of the best techniques to train and control your dog's behavior appropriately. This technique helps you to teach all basic commands to your dog. Clicker training saves a lot of time and effort to teach your dog almost everything, if operated properly.

How Clicker Training Works:

The main theme of the clicker training is that you associate your dog with a clicker sound which is sharp and strong and can be heard from a distance of almost 20+ yards with a specific sound for a specific command. The goal is to achieve dog's specific behavior associated with that particular clicker sound.

It is obvious that clicker training does not start with jus clicker; you need to teach your dog that clicker is a reward for him for his good behavior. This can be easily done by purchasing a bag of treats or a 2 dollar clicker from the pet store in your area.

Most importantly, make sure to use the clicker for a number of reasons. Initially, the dog will only hear it that a reward is waiting for him. A verbal command or a word will be helpful in different situations and because of it the relationship might not be as strong as it should be in their heads.

How Clicker Dog Training Is Done:

Make sure to follow three basic steps for training your dog using clicker technique. Firstly, getting the desired behavior it includes convincing your dog what exactly you want. It could be speaking, sitting, or rolling over, or other things you desire to teach your dog. Once the desired action is achieved, mark it with clicker and reward them.

Normally it takes two to three marking of clicker and then dog tries to understand their behavior and repeats it whenever clicker is used. The clicker technique work in a better way than the verbal commands as dogs respond to it very quickly and let you award them.

When the dog has learned the action and received the treat, you should continue doing it over and over. This process will help the dog to keep that action in mind. It is not necessary that you offer treats to your dog every time. Praise and petting will also work in the same way the treats did and will replace the dog's behavior.

Transitioning To a Command:

When the dog has learned the desired actions, the clicker training will have you transition to a spoken command, which can be used wherever you go, even you don't have the clicker. Whenever you are planning to use the clicker, say the verbal command and then click it, by rewarding the dog. The dog will immediately learn to follow the all three.

When you will start using the praise and petting, the need of treat will be automatically gone and dog will simply get used to it. There are a number of applications of the dog training which will help you to make your dog training a lot easier!
