subject: Illinois Sports Fans Relish New Technology [print this page]

The state of Illinois has a number of great professional sports teams with history to keep fans excited throughout the year. From the Chicago White Sox to the Cubs, to the iconic Chicago Bulls in the National Basketball Association, there is certainly no lack of talent when it comes to professional athleticism in this state. How do fans most appreciate their teams and the entertainment value they provide changes from season to season, and year to year. As with any form of entertainment, the ways in which people engage with it are constantly evolving. This truth is never so apparent then with new forms of technology like high definition television. Among the many perks this new technology provides, bringing the reality of the game to Americas living room is perhaps the most awe-inspiring.

Not every family is privileged enough to live in a big city with easy access to professional sports venues. Driving to the games, investing in the ticket prices and all the other expenses that go along with this activity has pushed it beyond the means of many ordinary families. For those who reside far from large urban hubs, getting to the game can be a mission altogether. For people like this, the arrival of HD TV has had a resounding significance. For one, it has enable huge numbers of people to view and indulge in their favorite professional sports games. Secondly, it has improved the entertainment value by multitudes, even swaying peripheral fans to jump on board.

For the common viewer, tuning into an ordinary basketball game or soccer match could be summed up as little more than some pituitary cases running around trying to stuff a ball through a hoop. Their interest in the game, if not founded on a genuine passion for professional athletes, could be disregarded almost entirely. To these people, the entertainment value of the game could be considered insignificant in the grand scheme of things. However, many opinions have changed as of late, with high definition television taking much of the responsibility. The game and the players aside, technology has changed the viewing experience immensely. Vivid colors and crystal clear imagery can have a stunning affect one persons perceptions. All of the sudden, those pituitary cases become heroes in living color, defending the city of Chicago, New York, or Miami with their athleticism.

Its amazing to think what a simple change in technology can do for different sects of society. The slightest improvement, and peoples social habits, likes and dislikes, and lifestyles are liable to change in significant ways. By improving the quality of how we perceive and consume entertainment, our bodies and minds are capable of reacting on a visceral level. With more color and more action, sports of all kinds take on an entirely new meaning. With high definition, those qualities have been met in unexpected ways. Hence, true fans and those with a mild interest in the game have united with something to celebrate over.
