subject: The 2010 Gmc Savana 6.0l Power Plant Based On Gmc's Flex-fuel Design [print this page]

The latest addition to the Savana list of options is the all-new 6.0L V8. With 6.0L displacement, the new power plant produces 323 hp. In 2009, the largest engine available was the 5.3L V8 that produced 310 hp. At first glance, the increase in power output may seem modest. Nevertheless, the ability of the new engine to pull heavy loads improved substantially. Additional displacement now produces a whopping 460 ft-lbs. of torque.

The new 6.0L power plant is based on GMC's flex-fuel design to increase performance and reduce emissions. In addition, the new power plant is available in all 1500, 2500 and 3500 models. Fuel efficiency naturally varies among models because of vehicle weight. In the mid-range however, a 2500 series van with the new 6.0L V8 and 2WD is rated at 14 miles per gallon during city driving and 17 miles per gallon while driving on the highway. The 2010 lineup also includes an all-new 4.6L V8 rated at 280 hp that improves improve fuel economy slightly.

All Savana vans are available in half ton, three-quarter ton, and one ton load-bearing configurations. In addition, all models are available with either 2WD or 4WD propulsion. Regardless of the load configuration and propulsion system, a wide range of passenger or cargo interiors is available.

GMC vans are respected for industry-leading dependability and affordability. In addition, a Savana can carry up to 15 passengers. This capacity is a rare achievement for most other manufacturers. On the downside, GMC received well-deserved criticism in the past because of the cheap quality plastic used to construct passenger compartments.

The new 323 hp engine should improve performance and dependability. The increase in total displacement insures that greater power creates less strain on internal components during daily use. With the ability to choose a smaller displacement option, fuel economy can remain affordable.
