subject: Caring For And Preserving Your Pool Table [print this page]

When you are shopping for a pool table there are many things that you have to keep in mind. The more that you know about where you are going to put the pool table and what you are going to do with the pool table the better off you will be.

First, you have to find a place to put the pool table that will allow you to enjoy the table to its fullest. This can be a very difficult decision to make whether you have a large home or a small home.

No matter what the size of your home is you have to make sure that the room is large enough for your pool table. The more room that there is in the area that you are planning on putting the pool table in the better off you will be.

If you have a spare room, you may want to consider changing the purpose of the room into a game room. When you know that you are going to be having a lot of guests or entertaining a lot of people you should seriously consider the conversion of the room.

When you have a game room you will be able to add more entertainment to the room. There are a lot of people that do not understand all that they can do with a game room to make sure that it is classy and enjoyable.

The room should at least be big enough to ensure you can shoot a game of pool from all angles of the table. Your cue stick should not hit the wall behind you or you may end up having holes in your wall from over zealous shooters.

Some companies will sell pool sticks that are much shorter than your average pool stick. Although these are not allowed in a technical game you can use them in your home if your table ends up being situated too close to a wall.

After you have found the room that you are going to use the pool table in you should plan for any other activities that you want in the room. If you are going to make it a game room you should plan the room for a television or any other type of table.

Card tables seem to be a very popular item to keep in the same room as the pool table. If you are able to have a pool table and a card table in the same room you can entertain a wide variety and a large number of people.

After you have decided where you are going to keep the pool table and what you are going to use in the room, you should then set some rules for your table. There are a lot of people that set their house rules to ensure their table is kept in pristine condition.

You have to make sure that the people that play on your table are respectful of the rules that you have set. When you have guests the easiest way to ensure that your table is kept in good condition is to post your rules clearly.

Posting more than one set of your rules is a great way to keep people in the know. When the rules are posted clearly and multiple times it will ensure that the people that are playing know what the rules are and how you expect them to play.

One of the best rules you can set for your pool table is to not allow people to eat and drink around your table. Food can do a lot of damage to your table if people have an accident or are not careful with their food and drinks.

When you do not have drinks and food near the table you will be able to keep your table in better condition for a longer amount of time. You should also make sure that people take care of their pool sticks.

As someone is using your pool stick they should not be leaning on it or abusing it in any way. Your pool sticks will last a long time if they are treated properly and there is no reason that they should not be treated properly.

Having a good supply of quality chalk and only allowing your chalk to be used will also keep your pool sticks nice. Taking the time to buy chalk and keep your chalk refilled may be hard or obnoxious in the beginning but will be well worth it in the end.
