subject: Finding The Ideal Rabbit Hutch [print this page]

Rabbits make ideal pets, they are beautiful creatures and don't need much attention and care. When you chose to have them as pets though, you have to get ready for the long haul. They live for up to 10 years so you have to be sure that you can commit yourself to raising them for a long period. Rabbits are social animals and they need company so you can't just buy one rabbit, you have to buy two or more.

They should feel safe and secure in the rabbit hutch. They survive for up to ten years, so raising rabbits is a long term commitment that you should make. They usually live in herds so you need to buy 2 or more rabbits, not one.

If you choose to buy an indoor rabbit hutch, you have to provide your pets some form of entertainment. You also have to provide the rabbits with time outdoors so they don't get bored and restless and eventually get sick. An outdoor rabbit hutch will have to be secure from other animals which can harm your pets. Place the rabbit hutch in a place where there are no electrical cables and chemicals.

Should you let your rabbit run outside their hutch, be sure that it is safe and secure. It is best to have your rabbit hutch outdoors where the rabbits can see other animals get fresh air. Just be sure that it is predator free and the weather is good. If there is rain or when it is cold, it is best to bring your rabbit hutch indoors.

During cold weather, there are rabbit hutch covers available to provide insulation to your rabbit hutch. Or you can use the attic or storage area of the multi level hutch to store straw which can also provide warmth and insulation during winter.

You need to put an enclosed area in the rabbit hutch where the rabbits can hide whenever they get threatened or intimidated. This is important because the rabbits do this a lot, they frighten easily. Always choose a rabbit hutch design that is strong and safe. The right choice of rabbit hutch can determine the happiness and health of your pet rabbits.
