To become an Army Cadets Adult Instructor you need to be 18 or over.
No experience is necessary and you will be trained in all aspects of the ACF that are required.
How much time you want to give is up to you. Adult Instructors normally commit to two parades/evenings per week at the local detachment and occasional weekends. After that, help is always welcome with the many activities in the ACF calendar.
The Army uniform will be supplied free of charge so that all you'll need to buy is a good pair of boots!
Broadly speaking there are two types of opportunity for volunteers: ACF Officers, who have a more managerial and organisational role; and Adult Instructors, who directly train the cadets.
The volunteer role is vital to the success of the cadets and you will also develop skills and gain qualifications such as NVQs that may be useful to you in your career.
Fortunately the interest from young people to take part in the Army Cadets is as strong as ever and so this is why ACF need more volunteers to meet the demand.
Learning new skills and meeting new friends, working as part of a team and undertaking interesting and challenging activities are all part of being an instructor. In addition, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you have made a difference within your local community.
