subject: Yucatan Mls Real Estate Warm [print this page]

When we're browsing through Yucatan MLS listings, we see inspiring pictures of the luxury beachfront condos in places such as Cancun, and beautiful images of colonial Merida, among many other top-notch options on the Yucatan Peninsula. A visit to the Cancun MLS or Merida MLS page from back home will show us a lot of necessary and important information about the properties we are interested in. Yet, there is one thing that a visit to a web page can tell us, but only experience can make us fully appreciate; what is winter like for Yucatan real estate owners? Or, just as importantly, what ISN'T winter like for Yucatan real estate owners.

The past couple of weeks have been especially cold here in Cancun, Merida and other parts of the Yucatan; the nights have been seeing lows of about 66 F (19 C) and the days have been going much above 75 F. Pretty cold, isn't it? The locals sure seem to think so, walking around bundled up in several sweaters with kids in winter jackets.

Compare this to the other end of things; in Saskatchewan, residents have been surviving temperatures down at -40; the only benefit to this temperature is that it's the same in both Centigrade and Fahrenheit. Now, on the Yucatan Peninsula there have also been a few rainy days mostly just for a couple of hours, then the sun comes out again. The other choice is snow. So in recent days, although the locals call it "winter," condo owners around Cancun or home owners in Merida have been enjoying weather more like late August, early September; while the locals are walking around in winter clothes, Americans and Canadians are enjoying their rooftop patios in shorts and t-shirts.
