subject: Web Design: The 7 Types of Developer Personality That You May Meet (Part 1) [print this page]

Web developers and programmers are undeniably meticulous people. They have to be. It comes with the territory. Web design developers have unique traits and habits of their own. Get to know the different types of web design developer personalities and their defining characteristics in this article. Let me introduce them to you one by one.

Self- help Constructor

This type of web design developer does whatever it takes to get the job done right no matter how limited his experience and skills are. He will accomplish the job by finding and using open source software and other free applications and tools that are on the web. He can be likened to a sponge because of his willingness to learn and ability to absorb information fast. He is undoubtedly resourceful. A self-help constructor does not develop applications. He simply exploits existing tools and makes something that's seemingly new to clients. With regards to quality of work, he may impress clients who don't know any better but not every client will be impressed.

2. Experienced Old Man

We're talking about an old-school web designer who, apparently, may not be the hippest bloke in this energetic and creative field. But don't underestimate this dude because he can deliver valuable experience, knowledge and skills on the table. This web design pro may not be able to keep up with the latest tools and technology, but he is undeniably wise and knows the hardcore basics of web design like the back of his hands. This dude proves that old-school style of coding may be antique but it's definitely not extinct. Although he may not be one of your heaviest hitters, but you are assured that he can deliver the goods.

3. Hardcore Geek

The hardcore geek is considered the martyr of developers. He will go beyond the call of duty just to deliver a good result. If you are to observe him, it seems like he's stuck to his desk; he eats and frantically work at the same time. He sees to it that he can finish the project before the deadline. Obviously, he has no time for leisure. Unfortunately, this hardcore geek is a better worker than a leader. The more code he writes, the more satisfied he feels.

4. Scholarly Know-it-all

Apparently, he knows it all, sometimes referred to as a walking encyclopedia when it comes to programming. He can fascinate or bore you with his passionate discussion of the history of programming language or dissecting imperfect codes. He can tweak every block of code to utmost perfection. Just like the hardcore geek, he sets high standards for himself. Because of this he can sometimes complicate a quite simple task thus, spending more time on a task that can be done in an hour or so. He is very generous when it comes to sharing his knowledge to others. He loves sharing his passion for the theory and technical intricacies of coding programming. If he's in your team, it's good. Make sure, though, that he wisely spends his time.

On the next part of this article, I will further discuss the other 3 Web Design developer personalities. It would be interesting to know where you belong. Watch out for the next to be released soon.
