subject: Learn How to Burn Body Fat without Fad Diets or Ridiculous Exercise Regimes [print this page]

Very few people are blessed with a naturally high metabolism. The obesity epidemic in the United States and other countries is evidence that most of us have to learn how to burn body fat. Unfortunately, in most developed countries, we're bombarded with so many fad diets and exercise programs that it's hard to know where to start.

Back to School for Burning Body Fat

To this day, the old axiom for burning body fat still holds true. That is, "Eat less and exercise more." When it comes to diets that work, they conform to this rule, only modifying it here and there to increase the weight loss potential or to take the edge off the hunger and cravings.

At first, people simply ate less and skipped desserts. This didn't prove to be satisfactory, so foods came out that were "low fat" or "sugar free." The problem with low fat was that it usually meant more salt.

Sugar free had its own problemsnothing seemed to adequately replace the taste of sugar. All too often, artificial sweeteners proved to be more toxic than sugar could ever be. Even Splenda is under the microscope these days for health problems.

Low-Carb Diets Blew Away Other Weight Loss Plans

Dr. Atkins' Diet Revolution raised the bar for weight loss plans everywhere. Some health professionals were skeptical of it, but the low-carb diet stood the test of time. The basic idea was simple. It modified the age-old advice of "eat less, exercise more" to raise and answer the question, "Eat less of what?"

The answer is low-carb diets since the Atkins Diet has always been "eat fewer carbs and eat more protein." In the form of the Atkins Diet, there were still a few points to be tweaked to maximize its effectiveness. It was, indeed, a revolution, but it wasn't the final answer.

Raising the Bar Past the Atkins Diet Plan

The first scientific study to change the philosophy in the low-carb diet plan was the realization that soy protein isn't a viable form of protein for weight loss. As it turns out, soy protein usually comes with a lot of salt, and it has precursors for estrogen. While this doesn't sound like a big deal, especially to women, consider this: Estrogen is why women typically have more trouble losing weight than men. It slows down the metabolism, preparing you for pregnancy.

Another breaking development is a preference for organic/unprocessed foods. Most of the bad reputation animal protein has lies in how the animal is raised and prepared before it hits the stores. Growth hormones and antibiotics in meat and dairy products pave the way for weight gain and even worse issues such as heart disease. With organic and free-range processes, these problems aren't present. At least, not at the scale that commercial grade food is.

Now you have the basic essentials for how to burn body fat in the quickest and safest possible way. There is much more to learn, such as evaluating your metabolism type and adjusting your diet plan for your individual needs. For that, you should consult a professional dietician who can help you with your needs.
