subject: Cobblestone Trail, Sonoma, California The Right Path To Follow For An Adventurous Hike [print this page] Cobblestone trail cuts a narrow path through the rocky grassland of California bays The point at which you have to start your hike is the sign board announcing Cobblestone trail. During the hike you are likely to different varieties of oaks that are rare to other parts of the country. The trail is rocky in part and you have to tread carefully. After you start, the trail starts to ascend into the oak forest. As you walk down the trail you will notice oaks that are blue, black and green. The black ones are especially lovely during autumn when their leaves turn brilliant yellow. Soon you will reach a grassy flat meadow into a park. Do not stray, just keep to the left of the trail and go left again to the path that leads into Cobblestone trail.
From the flat land again you enter the woods. The trail here is different. There are rocks jutting out from the earth that looks quite like volcanic rocks. At this point you can have a great view of the Sugarloaf State Park and the hills around mount Hood. You will find a signpost directing you to take the left. For the second time trail opens up to a meadow full of fruit trees. As you continue the trail makes another ascent and heads into another forest of douglas fir and oak. After you have followed the trail for a mile or so, you will reach a junction where Cobblestone Trail and Orchard trail meets. From here you have to turn right.
The flat path that you see splits and after a short journey again joins. You need not get confused just stay on the right. From here the trail enters a path that cuts through the hill which will look as though the path has been man-made. After that the trail again divides into two. You take the one going left. The path that follows is very narrow and travels through thick forest. When you come out of the forest you will find yourself at the edge of the hill. You will observe a path going uphill, take it. You will come to a clearing where the trail hits a large pile of rocks from where you will see the trail going down towards Spring lake. If you follow the Cobblestone trail you will reach an unsigned junction where you just turn left.
The northward path that you take is rather narrow which leads you to another unsigned junction where you turn left. After a walk you could a signed junction after all. The trail goes down the hill and meets the junction from where you started trail. Cobblestone trail may seem a bit complicated but if you follow the direction given above you can enjoy the hike through hills and flat land and through the nature.
