Many people prefer not to use medications but natural remedies instead. There are a few things that have been used over the years to treat acne and other skin conditions. You might have to try more than one before you find something that you truly believe is helping you.

The herb basil has the power to kill bacteria on the skin. Apply the tincture to the skin with a compress and allow it kill the bacteria that cause blackheads. You can also put dried basil in a cup of hot water and leave it to soak. You can also dip a compress in the solution and gently pat the areas where you have acne.

Dandelion has a wonderful detoxifying effect on the liver. It promotes regular bowel movement by stimulating bile flow and relieving constipation, which also will help reduce bloating and swelling. Use it 4-6 weeks at a time to detoxify the liver and see how it aids acne. Getting rid of the toxins in your body will improve acne and your overall health.

You can take garlic orally or massage the acne areas with it several times a day. Even though this could help - you will struggle to get the garlic smell away from you and that might then depress and stress you. If you have a problem with the smeall of garlic, then you will be much better off taking an oral garlic supplement as opposed to rubbing it on your face.

Burdock is a herb that boosts the immune system and it purifies your blood. It's also a liver tonic and mild diuretic. Removing the toxins from the body is always a good thing as mentioned above, because we tend to poison our bodies with so much junk food and other substances that we need a good detoxifying session once in a while. You can get burdock in capsule form or a tea.

A great herb that does wonders to cleanse your face is Calendula, also known as Marigold! Some people have seen great results with this but other hasn't - you need to try different things to see what works for you.

If you'd like a combination remedy of a few herbs make an appointment with a herbalist. They often have their own mixtures and you are bound to find something you'd like to try!

The moment you experience any side effect when using a herbal remedy you should consult with your herbalist or see a doctor.
