subject: Beginning As A Paladin - Paladin Leveling [print this page] Paladin leveling isn't as easy as most paladin leveling guides say it is. It is a very complex class that requires a lot of thinking for you to be able to get every drop of efficiency from your character. That is, if you are specially focused on showing the entire World of Warcraft universe how awesome a player you are. If you're a casual player, Paladins still make for a good character.
Choosing your race is perhaps the first challenge you'll face in Paladin leveling. You may need to take your character to its abilities' limit so you can stand a better chance of defeating your opponents as the game progresses. However, if you're not after efficiency, choosing the race may not be much of an issue for you. That said, it would still be nice to have one that'll look good even though you'll only see its mug (backside) until the end of the game.
{Paladin Races}
Paladins, in the original WoW, is an Alliance-only class. However even in the Alliance, only Dwarves and Humans are the choices. With the addition of the Burning Crusade, the Blood Elves were added as Horde, thus opening the class to Horde players, as well as the Draenei with the Alliance.
Humans are possibly the best race for Paladins. They are pretty much stacked up on Passive Strength, Reputation Gains, Sword and Mace Specialization, Spirit and a few free trinket slots that could help them in PvPing.
If you're after the way your Paladin looks, the Dwarves present the best choice. Their looks aside, Dwarves get Cold Resist, a bonus on find treasure, Stoneform, and a bonus on Guns which isnt really useful since they are incapable of handling one.
The Draenei, generally, are a much better choice than the Dwarves are when it gets down to efficiency. They get the Gift of Naaru which is basically a Heal Over Time (HoT spell that costs absolutely nothing to cast, a bonus on Jewelcrafting, a bonus on 1% hit, and a bit of Shadow Resistance. If you are planning to become a Retribution Paladin, the extra heal could come in handy. The extra 1% hit though is handy for all Draenei Paladins.
If you're playing the Paladin the Horde style, you don't have a choice but to be a Blood Elf. Fortunately, Blood Elves make for excellent Paladins. The Bloods Elves have a bit of advantage over Draenei because of their Arcane Torrent plus they also come with decent boost on mana drain, Enchanting, and Magic Resistance. Over all, the Blood Elves arent a bad choicenot at all.
After choosing your Paladin comes the first 10 levels of your game. Nothing much to be said here, except that you should finish all your quests and leave nothing behind. This is not your first time to play World of Warcraft? Well, that rule still sticks. That's the best strategy you could follow PLUS you can find precious gold and gears in doing so.
Heads up your Paladin will spend its first 5 levels in its starting town. Learn as much and gather as much as you can in your first town before you head out to your second town. In your second town would be the new trainer who would pretty do the same thing as your first. Same rule applies here learn all the spells you can including the abilities from your trainer AND skill your weapons. That'll only take you several minutes to hours so dont skip that.
