subject: Great Tips To Overcome Procrastination [print this page]

Motivation is the drive to move forward in our lives. It is what wakes us up and gives us the nudges we need to get out of bed and go to work. Motivation is what keeps us doing the things we need to do in order to get by.

What happens when we lose motivation? The loss of motivation can be a huge moment in a person's life, altering the path they are on. The moment that someone decides they can no longer be bothered by something it changes where they are headed, even if only in some small way.

Fortunately lack of motivation is not always a bad thing. It is possible that losing motivation for one task can lead to another path, one that contains better motivation and enjoyment. Sometimes, however, it is necessary to stay motivated with what you are working on, even if you do not want to.

Here are a few tips for staying motivated when you have to keep on your current path, but do not really want to:

Why are you on this path? For what reason did you initially start this thing? Was there a financial reward in it for you? Are you working towards a greater goal? Will this task, when completed successfully, help your future? Try and keep the importance of this task at the forefront of your mind, and make that your driving force.

If not for this task, what would you be doing? Would your life be better or worse off than it is currently? While we do not always like the things we have to do, sometimes we have to appreciate what we have, since without it we we would be in a worse place.

Make the task fun for yourself. Sometimes, no matter how much you do not want to do something, it still must be done. Set yourself mini goals to complete. If you stack boxes you could time yourself, and work toward beating your own time with every stack. There are ways to make things more interesting, even if only a little.

Using these pointers can help you stay motivated for longer periods of time. However, if you really cannot stay motivated, perhaps it is best not to stick with what you are doing. It's your choice.
