subject: Floor Scale - For A Long Working Life [print this page]

The floor scale is a highly convenient weighing machine that has many sturdy features to withstand rigors of weighing operations. A well designed and robust construction is necessary to measure loads without any breakdowns. A wide range of materials are used in the construction. The floor weighing machine is made from stainless steel, aluminum and welded steel to suit the particular application and environment.

For corrosive and hazardous environments, stainless steel is preferred as it provides extra strength and at same time resists corrosion due to its superior anti rust properties. As a result the floor scale has a longer working life. Though stainless steel is costlier than welded steel and aluminum, it pays off in the longer run because the weighing machine has longer working life.

Where it necessary to move the floor scale from one place to the other and at same time protects it from corrosion, aluminum is used in construction. As aluminum is light in weight, floor scale becomes portable. The anti corrosive qualities of the aluminum protect the machine from rust and increase its working life span.

In general industries where corrosion is not a big issue, welded steel is used in floor scale. The cost of welded steel is less compared to stainless steel and aluminum. Hence such the cost of the weighing scale is less compared to those made from stainless and aluminum.

For measuring large quantity of objects together, a wooden or plastic pallet is used. All goods are placed on the pallet which is then loaded on the platform of the weighing machine by a forklift. Once the weight reading is noted from the electronic display unit, the pallet is unloaded from the platform of the machine. The low base design of the machine provides a very low center of gravity to the machine and the broad flat platform area makes it possible to place the load on the machine comfortably. This is very convenient feature that saves time and increases the productivity of the facility.

A good design and selection of right materials make floor scale a sturdy machine, which if used properly can have a very long working life and in process provide accurate results. You can learn more at www.paylessscales.com.
