subject: Virtual Home Environment And Roaming Voip [print this page]

A true Virtual Home Environment (VHE) is achieved when mobile network operators provide global roamers the same personal features and user interface that they use at home. Short code access to value added services (VAS) is commonly used in the home network, but when subscribers travel abroad the short code may be unavailable, or inaccessible due to a request for authentication. This often causes frustration, because many roamers do not know the full numbers and/or passwords, and therefore never complete these calls. Starhomes Home Short Code is a seamless, feature-rich solution that converts unrecognized home short codes into valid international formatted numbers, allowing mobile operators to quickly expand their earning potential by continuing to serve their subscribers whenever and wherever they travel.

Included in Starhomes Virtual Home Environment (VHE) solution is the Intelligent Call Assistant (ICA). ICA works seamlessly with the Home Short Code Solution to ensure international dialing difficulties are overcome by automatically correcting or completing misdialed numbers. The Intelligent Call Assistant has a user interface that allows seamless call completion, native-language voice interaction and post-dialing, SMS notification or any of these combinations.

The Intelligent Call Assistant provides a call completion solution and educational SMS using a comprehensive global database of numbering plans such as mobile and PSTN. Operators are therefore able to complete more calls for inbound roamers visiting their network and for outbound roamers abroad. By completing the calls dramatically (up to 4.5% from the roaming revenue) mobile operators increase the number of completed calls through their networks and at the same time improve customer satisfaction.

Convergence is a major trend that is dramatically changing the telecom environment. New players, technologies, devices and business models are beginning to flood the market. Internet and roaming VoIP providers are moving into the mobile arena with services that promise complete mobility and appealing price models. Mobile network operators can turn convergence to their advantage by focusing on implementing strategies today that capitalize on roaming VoIP applications. Mobile2IP provides roamers with the ability to simply connect their laptop to any IP network to make and receive mobile calls over VoIP using one number - their own MSISDN (Mobile Station Integrated Services Digital Network). Mobile2IP can also help mobile operators gain new revenue streams while making the most of their existing assets.
