subject: A Guide On Warlock Builds [print this page]

Once Mages, the Warlocks have delved deep into demonic powers, corrupting them and transforming them into a foul magic-wielding class. They are considered to be among the most original, not to mention one of the most versatile classes in Warcraft, capable of filling a number of roles. Their wide range of talents allow them to cast curses, powerful DoT spells, use demons or pets and other trademark Warlock builds.

As a Warlock, your talents are split into three categories called talent trees, these are the Affliction, Demonology and Destruction. Any of these trees can lead to creating a well-rounded harbinger of destruction. These trees, it seems, have been developed to create just the right killing machine armed with demonic powers. Each of the trees also have distinct capabilities that enhance any of the following: survivability, PvP abilities, and mass killing capabilities.

{Affliction}

The Affliction tree is the perfect talent tree for players who wish to create Warlocks that can kill in battlegrounds as well as perform well as leveling character. This tree, with a little help from Demonology's Soul Link, creates a really powerful character that can withstand other players in most combats. This is also the only ability that makes the Warlock a capable mass grinder that could wade into any area of mobs.

Affliction focuses mainly on improving curses, drain spells, and DoT spells.

For a player delving deep into this tree, the end result is often high XP if everything goes well. If not, you can expect to have a quite reduced mana or life. Nevertheless, this is the tree for players who are focused on reaching the end of the game.

{Demonology}

This is the tree that attracts most Warlock players. The tree enhances the capabilities of any Warlock demons alongside improving the Warlock's survivability. Going deep into this talent tree would lead to the creation of a warrior-like pet that tanks as well as deal massive damage. As for the Warlock, this is the path towards gaining access to Stones, end-of-game summons, and buffs.

{Destruction}

This talent tree has a few very useful abilities for boosting DPS, which is really good to have if you've no intention but blast your way to the level cap. The talents in here are all directed to improving the damage dealt by the Warlock's spells as well as the damage-dealing capabilities of their pets.

Remember, no one gets Warlock builds right the first time so don't hesitate to tweak your your current build is giving you a hard time. Unlearn your talents if you need to and dont think twice on trying other talents. But above all, spend your talents points wisely. You only get those once you reach level ten, and the way Warlocks see them, each of the talent trees are worth distributing your points to.
