subject: Choosing The Best Paladin Pvp For You [print this page]

As a Paladin, you get to choose between 3 specs- Holy, Protection and Retribution. Although most Paladins roll the Retribution, the best Paladin PvP spec isn't always about getting every drop of efficiency, abilities and talents that your Paladin could give. The style of playing is also an important factor to consider. When it comes down right to it, any of the three specs can provide solid abilities when combined to your personal playing style. Your choice then should be made according to the PvP role you are likely to play in the battles.

{The Three Paladin Specs}

{The Holy Paladin}

The base ability of the Paladins is to heal. But the Paladin's healing talents are at their max when used by the Holy Paladins. You should roll this way if you are planning to be the healer in any team. This will give you solid healing talents that can help maintain the highest possible survivability for yourself and your team.

As the healer, you will be the magnet of attacks from your opponents and their pets. They, generally know that it'll be very difficult for your team to survive without your help so you become the target of their attacks. It is comforting to know, though, that the Paladins are the second of the two classes that can wear heavy plate armors. To further enhance your armor, you can distribute some of your talent points in the Protection tree.

{The Retribution Paladin}

Although the Retribution Paladin can never be the fighting class that the Warriors are, they can nevertheless deliver solid damage to their opponents. This Paladin has the right mix of talents that can help it beat any class in combat. It has the highest survival rate and a decent burst rate damage that can be supplied only by the Retribution build. Aside from these, Retribution Paladins also have the capabilities to dish out solid damage as well as soak up damage to protect their allies.

{The Protection Paladin}

Not the usual PvP Paladin but you'll see some of these in combat. Protection Paladins are, by design, capable of withstanding fighting classes like Warriors, Rogues as well as magic classes like Enhancement Shamans although they don't stand a very good chance against Hunters and spell-casting classes. They are primarily for keeping their allies alive by mitigating the damage received by their teammates in battle. This is the best spec to go if you are the protector if your team.

{The Verdict}

It is no secret that Paladins are primed for PvP. But which spec you should pic that's the problem. The obvious choice for PvP is the Holy Paladin since it possesses everything that makes Paladin a good player melee, healing and spell casting. They are hard to bring down as well so that's another advantage. Nevertheless, the two other specs have their uses. The Retribution Paladin is the damage powerhouse that can send opponents straight to their graveyards and the Protector Paladin is the knight in shining armor that other classes need.

Regardless of which build you choose, you can trust that your Paladin PvP is a force to reckon with when you're venturing into the battle arena against other players.
